Hello Zach
I think it will be very hard for you to essentially reverse engineer the db connectivity. I know I'm not quite accurate when I say "reverse engineer" but in a nutshell that is the case. Main problem I see is; how do you know the report is using an XML datasource? E.g.; the report may have been created off of an XML datasource, but in the app, the report is actually consuming an ADO Dataset. In this way, when you open the report in the CR desinger, you can see that the db connection was XML, but at runtime, it does not use XML. This is the usual way of doing these sorts of connections. And unless you have access to the application source / code, you can not get at the contents of the ADO .NET dataset.
